Spadework is growing fast and our technical ambitions are high. We are looking for a talented Developer to help evolve our platform and support our international expansion.

Spadework is a fast-growing scale-up in Amsterdam that builds recruitment solutions powered by our Up-to-databaser. Our mission is to make hiring smarter and more efficient with intelligent technology. We were founded two years ago, which means no legacy code and plenty of room to build with the latest tools and paradigms.

As a Developer at Spadework, you will play a key role in our platform’s growth. You own vertical feature development from concept to production, across the React frontend and the FastAPI backend.

Your responsibilities

• End-to-end feature development: Design, build, and ship new features. Work on the React frontend, the FastAPI backend, and data flows with CockroachDB and ClickHouse.

• Technical ownership: Own the features you deliver, including maintenance and optimization. Monitor performance and keep our GCP-based platform stable and scalable.

• Collaboration and communication: Work directly with stakeholders such as the founders to clarify requirements. Translate functional needs into solid technical solutions and contribute proactively to the roadmap.

Requirements

We are looking for a pragmatic developer who enjoys taking ownership. You thrive in a lean environment where you see the impact of your work quickly.

• 1 to 4 years of professional experience in a relevant role such as Full Stack or Frontend Developer

• Strong experience with React and an eye for modern, functional interfaces

• Backend experience or a strong ambition to grow into full stack. Knowledge of Python (FastAPI) is a significant plus

• Clear communicator who can explain technical choices to non-technical colleagues

• Structured way of working, proactive mindset, and solution-focused attitude

• Education matters less than proven skills and a get-it-done mentality

• Experience with our stack (CockroachDB, ClickHouse, GCP) is a strong plus
