Creating job postings with AI: where ChatGPT still falls short

Oct 14, 2025

More and more recruiters are using ChatGPT to write job postings. Ideal, until you realize that the results are too generic, filled with cliché language ("dynamic team", "team player") and the tone of voice does not match your brand or target audience at all. Moreover, writing good prompts often takes more time than expected. Add an awkward team photo, and you'll be six months in and still haven't found the right candidate.

In this article, you will read about what often goes wrong when using ChatGPT for job descriptions and how it can be much easier. Because with the right tool, you no longer need to write prompts, save hours of work, and get immediate professional, consistent, and audience-targeted job postings that actually work.

What ChatGPT is good at (and where it goes wrong)

ChatGPT is a great tool. It helps in rewriting texts, brainstorming job titles, and coming up with alternative descriptions.

But:

  • the output is often just cliché

  • the tone of voice does not always match your brand

  • and the texts are not optimized for conversion or findability

In short: you save time in the first step but lose it again on corrections, deletions, and starting over.

This is because ChatGPT will never fully understand your context. It doesn't know what kind of chill, down-to-earth atmosphere your organization has. It also doesn't know which structure converts better or that SEO keywords are essential for visibility. You have to add all of that manually, each time.

What we can learn from working with AI

AI learns quickly, but we learn faster. After thousands of prompts, versions, and endless corrections, you see what does work:

  1. Input is everything

What you put in determines what comes out. A vague prompt like "write a job description for a marketer" produces a vague text. The more specific the input, the better the output.

  2. AI misses the context of your brand

ChatGPT has no fixed memory for your tone of voice, brand values, or writing style. Every new job posting starts from scratch.

  3. Conversion requires structure

A job posting that looks good in ChatGPT doesn’t necessarily work well online. CTAs, length, headline structure, and readability must be aligned with conversion, and that remains manual work.

  4. AI can handle language, but not target audiences
The text may be grammatically perfect but miss your ideal candidate entirely. Think overly formal language, irrelevant benefits, or the wrong focus points.

As an HR or recruitment professional, you can gain a lot with AI, but only if you know what you're doing. The trick is to not use AI as the end product, but as a tool within a well-structured process.

How to save yourself a lot of hassle

At Spadework, we noticed the same pattern recurring. Recruiters used ChatGPT to write job postings, but kept facing the same frustrations: generic texts, formatting prone to errors, and lack of consistency. That's why we developed the Vacancy Transformer, a tool that creates a strong, converting job description from a bare job outline in a matter of minutes.

What makes the Job Posting Transformer different:

With this tool, you will never again have to struggle annoyingly with manually rewriting job postings. The Job Posting Transformer delivers:

  • Job-specific matching

The tool automatically links relevant keywords from CVs to your job posting. This creates texts that resonate better with candidates, increasing the chance of conversion.

  • Intuitive editor

Everything is draggable and adjustable with AI support, giving you maximum control and speed.

  • Proprietary Parser

Where standard parsers make mistakes, our internal parser works with great precision. This ensures that no data is lost or misinterpreted.

  • Direct writing back to ATS

Generate job postings and write them directly back into your ATS. No extra copying or integration errors.

  • Alignment with tone of voice

The tool learns your brand values, communication style, and house style, ensuring every job posting sounds consistent, regardless of who in your team writes it.

  • Safe storage and compliance (GDPR compliant)

All data is stored securely within the EU, in accordance with GDPR regulations.

  • Custom AI for your workflow

Our AI is not one-size-fits-all; we personalize it so it seamlessly fits into your processes and preferences.

  • Seamless ATS integrations

Spadework integrates effortlessly with any ATS system, without hassle.

So, only advantages!

So remember...

AI is not a replacement for human professionals. It simply makes the work a bit faster, as long as you use it the right way.

Where ChatGPT stops at text, Spadework goes further with structure, consistency, and brand retention. So if you find you’re still spending too much time polishing job postings, remember: It can be faster. It can be better. And it can be error-free.
